Celebrating Sisterhood

Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence. Every October, organizations and individuals unite across the country for a national effort to uplift the needs, voices, and experiences of survivors. Congress declared the month of October to be Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 1989.

But where to begin?

  • Sharing your story
  • Donating your time, goods, or funds to your local domestic violence program
  • Talking to your loved ones, especially any children and young people in your life, about healthy relationships and red flags
  • Participating in mutual aid networks and opportunities for direct cash assistance to survivors, as survivors often identify cash as their #1 most urgent need to get and stay safe
